Welcome!

Welcome to the launch of Geophysical Insights and our blog! These are exciting times for our young firm and the industry we serve. Hopefully some of you saw the article about our launch in the September issue of Harts E&P.  I am also pleased to report that the 4 October edition of Oil & Gas Journal features our article on the application of unsupervised neural network technology.   The article surveys the application of neural network technologies to seismic interpretation.  If you’ve not seen these publications yet,  please see the “Newsroom” box on the home page. There’s more to come. Now, a bit about our mission – developing new, disruptive technologies for finding hydrocarbons.

Despite current efforts to develop alternative energy sources, the worldwide demand for hydrocarbons, particularly oil, continues to grow. New technologies will be needed to increase the percentage of recoverable reserves to meet this expected demand. We’re excited about the application of neural network technology to derive new insights into the large and growing volume of seismic and well log data. We see this technology as ‘disruptive’ in that it enables the evaluation of many tens of attributes from the seismic response, something impossible for us mere mortals to visualize.

I’d welcome your feedback on applications of this technology and other subjects regarding innovative software technologies for finding hydrocarbons. Thanks again for stopping by!
